White Rose Maths

Maths is taught through a mastery approach, using the ‘White Rose’ scheme of work from Reception to Year 6.

This child-centered approach is then enhanced through challenges from a range of high-quality sources, including the NCETM spines.  Within Maths lessons, we use White Rose teaching tools and workbooks for year 1 to 6. Learning is embedded through a concrete, pictor

ial and abstract approach. Our White Rose Maths curriculum systematically builds mat

hematical knowledge and skills. This means that our children can understand and draw on the knowledge, concepts and procedures they have already learned, and apply these to where they are now in their learning, as well as in the next stage.

Alongside White Rose Maths, we incorporate mathematical reasoning and problem solving  to solve practical problems in everyday life in a variety of ways including; Flash Back 4, Morning Maths Work, mini Maths booster sessions, the use of Test Base and other high quality sources to promote problem solving, not just in the Maths lesson, but across the curriculum. For more information about the Maths curriculum, please see the Maths Subject Statement of Intent and the Governor PresentationAut 23/24.

Below you can find the schemes of work for each year group from Y1-Y6 covered each term.  From time to time, classes may move away from covering the units in the order they are presented to best meet the needs of the children, this will be particularly the case in Year 2 and Year 6 as the children prepare for their SATs. However full coverage is ensured. Should you require any further information, please speak to the class teacher.
